Ben’s Chili Bowl

Huska & Horgan Engineering is proud to have provided site civil engineering consulting services necessary to upsize and modernize the water and sewer service laterals serving this iconic landmark and restaurant. Ben’s Chili Bowl is located in DC Water, so the new piping had to be reviewed and approved by DC Water. Since the amount of utility trenching exceeded 50 square feet, an erosion and sediment control plan had to be reviewed and approved by the Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE). Finally, because the exterior construction was within the public right-of-way of the nearby street and alley, a public space construction permit had to be obtained from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT).
