Cycle House
Washington, D.C.
Huska & Horgan Engineering oversaw and assisted with this project from its early concept phase all the way through construction completion. What was once a conspicuously vacant lot in the heart of DC with a view of the Capitol is now a five-story mixed-use retail and residential building. We designed the layout of the entire site, both at the surface level, below ground, and up on the roof. We worked alongside the dry utility consultant and PEPCO to provide a new underground electric transformer. We coordinated with all the appropriate DC departments and agencies including DC Water, DOEE, and DDOT. The streetscape along North Capitol Street was modernized with new sidewalk and a rack for bicycle parking. We provided a lush green roof with solar panels that creates a visual amenity for the penthouse and satisfies the stormwater management requirements as well as the Green Area Ratio (GAR).
